My Qualifications
After my first divorce, I started volunteering. This continued for 40 years, with many organizations in several states. It's an excellent way to heal while giving back to your community. Being a Stephen Minister helped me make peace with the church I felt had abandoned me during my first divorce.
After 20 years in mortgage banking, I burned out. The mortgage crisis was a motivation to change careers.
My first paying job in mental health was at a homeless shelter. When I worked in mortgages, I used to think that I wanted to get out of the office and mingle with real people, rather than analyze them on paper. Working with the homeless community was an eye-opener.

This led to more schooling, becoming a Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor, and earning numerous certifications.
