They help their clients develop mental health goals and a process for tracking and measuring them. Clients learn to be accountable for their choices. Mental Health coaches are agents of change. Mental Health coaching is an emerging career path, and it’s natural that you might have questions.
  • What is a Substance Abuse Counselor?
    Substance Abuse Counselors provide support for individuals with drug and alcohol problems, other addictive disorders, and behavioral issues. They assist individuals in changing their behavior by helping them overcome their dependency and become self-sufficient. The substance abuse counselor may also work closely with the family. Addiction inevitably affects the loved ones of the chemically dependent person. Because clients are susceptible to relapses, coaches can work with clients long-term.
  • What is a Personal Life Coach?
    A Personal Life Coach is an agent of change, and they can help with many areas of your life, whereas a Mental Health Coach focuses on Mental Health. A life coach is someone who coaches and encourages clients through personal challenges. They help guide clients to reach their ultimate goals. Because everyone is different, their goals are different, and coaching is based on the individual needs and wishes of each person.
  • As a chaplain, will you force your beliefs on me?
    No, I've worked with many clients who did not believe in God. I respect that. As a counselor, I try to meet you wherever you are on your journey. Counseling should be about you, not so much about me.
